Ultrahuman, an Indian fitness and nutrition tracking business, launched a smart ring in 2023 that provides fitness analytics. Now, for most of us, entrusting this second-generation gadget to a stranger would seem unwise given its starting price of over Rs. 29,000. Such was the case for an entrepreneur who shared a humorous story about this smart ring on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that happened during the US visa application process.
Deepak Abbot, founder of Indiagold, a digital gold platform, recounted his US visa interview experience, highlighting strict restrictions on bringing gadgets and quick thinking to overcome problems. He said he was turned away when Mr. Abbott showed up for an interview because he was wearing an Ultrahuman Fitness Ring, an electronic device that is not allowed indoors.
When Abbott found himself in a dilemma, he decided to follow in his grandfather's footsteps when he left Pakistan. The abbot reportedly moved to a spot just a few yards away from the visa office, dug a hole, placed the ring inside it and marked it with a stone. “The only difference is that I went back and took it back,” Abbott joked, adding that others wishing to visit the U.S. should not bring electronic devices to their U.S. visa interviews. He concluded his tweet with some advice.
As of press time, the post had been viewed 313,100 times on social media platforms. Most people in the comments section were curious about the possibility of visa offices not providing lockers or safe places to store visitors' luggage.
One user asked, “Why aren't there any facilities to store it?” and said, “I don't think people would randomly leave their phones outside.”
“I don't know which consulate I went to, but there are lockers in Delhi,” said another.
One user spoke about his experience and wrote: There was no place to put my phone or smartwatch. Locker equipment has been removed. The motorman charged me 100 rupees for 200 meters and took me to a shady place. So the man charged me 100 rupees for each gadget. ”
The main features that Ultrahuman specifies for the Ring Air are 24-hour tracking of skin temperature, heart rate variability (HRV), movement, sleep, and heart rate (HR). You can take advantage of this monitoring combination to plan your training and other physical activities. This gives you a sleep and movement index, as well as a daily recovery score (after sleep).
