Will Kootenay Region entrepreneurs take home the top prize?
Nominations are now open for the 21st Small Business BC Awards, giving small businesses in the Kootenay region the opportunity to compete for B.C.'s biggest entrepreneurial awards.
Whether you’re a business owner, a fan of local hangouts, a supporter of great service or someone inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit, this is your moment to celebrate the businesses that impact our lives through nominations for the Small Business BC Awards.
“The Small Business BC Awards are an opportunity to celebrate and support all small businesses, from mom-and-pop shops in small towns to burgeoning brands in economic epicenters,” said Tom Conway, CEO of Small Business BC. “What makes this awards competition unique is that it provides a level playing field for entrepreneurs, wherever they are in BC, to demonstrate the strength and impact of their hard work.”
“Everyone has their favourite small business – it’s more than just a business, it’s a community hub where people can gather and create memories together,” said Brenda Bailey, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation. “The BC Small Business Awards are a wonderful opportunity to tell the story of our local small business and show how important it is to all of us in our communities and across B.C..”
All British Columbia small businesses are eligible to nominate for the Small Business BC Awards. Nominations will be accepted until August 16th at sbbc.co/nominate.
Nominations will be accepted in four award categories: Premier's People's Choice Award, Business Impact Award, E-Commerce Experience Award and Best Youth Entrepreneur.
The Premier People's Choice Award will be determined solely by public vote, following a normalisation process that takes into account the region's population, while the other three Business Pitch categories will see the selection of the top five finalists based on public votes (after normalisation) and written responses from in-house business experts.
The top five companies from each of the three business pitch categories will present their case for why they deserve to win to a panel of judges, who will then select the winners, comprised of past Small Business BC Awards winners, business professionals and advisors.
prize
In addition to the title of B.C.’s top small business, more than $20,000 in cash prizes will be awarded across four award categories.
