LEEDS, Alabama – Leeds-based Mom & Me Mercantile was announced earlier this week as one of 500 small businesses to receive a $10,000 grant through the Small Business Assistance Grant Program.
American Express and Main Street America created the grant program in 2021 to help economically vulnerable small business owners recover from the crisis. COVID-19 Grow your business through the pandemic
Since its inception, Small Business Support has donated more than $1 million.9 Million Dollar Grant 1,180 Small business owners across the country.
“We are so grateful for this amazing opportunity,” said Neva Reardon, owner of Mom & Me.

“This grant is a true blessing and a testament to God's ability to provide for our needs. With this funding, we will be able to make our restrooms ADA compliant and open up the building partitions to create a welcoming space where Leeds residents and visitors can gather and spend time together. We are also excited to move forward toward our dream of having a wine and coffee bar in the back of the store.”
The program's 2024 grant recipients represent U.S. small businesses from all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
And Puerto Rico.
Later this year, grant recipients will have the opportunity to apply for an additional $30,000 Enhancement Grant that will be awarded to 25 small businesses.
The program is part of American Express' “Backing Small” initiative, which provides financial assistance and resources to small business owners facing economic hardship.
