SMSU's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will host an entrepreneurship event titled “Southwest Startup and Business Development Collaboration Forum” on Tuesday, November 14, and Thursday, November 16, 2023, at SMSU's Conference Center Upper Level. It will be held.
This event celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week and showcases entrepreneurship, student organizations, executives, and the Southwest Minnesota entrepreneurial professional community.
This event is centered around student entrepreneurs who compete for micro-seed capital that will help them start their own businesses. The program includes speakers, competitions, and regional and local entrepreneurial communities.
Tuesday's lineup includes a student pitch competition and a student association founding event. The Student Pitch Competition features business startup pitches from SMSU students and participants in the Lyon and Murray County CEO Program (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities).

- 1:00pm – 3:00pm — Enactus Project and Professional Development Session
Thursday's schedule includes a business startup workshop with Chateria Smith, a keynote with lunch, followed by a panel discussion and networking session.
Startup Workshop speaker Shateria Smith is an entrepreneur and owner of SimplyProps, an event prop building business. Simply Chateria; Limelight Podcast Studio. She is also an author and speaker based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
