Today, Albuquerque Business First received the New Mexico Minority Business Development Agency Business Center (NM MBDA), one of six Diversity Business Leader Awards recognizing outstanding diversity within an organization. The annual Diverse Business Leader Awards recognize organizations that are committed to recruiting a diverse workforce and have programs, initiatives and resources that drive diversity in the workplace.

The New Mexico MBDA opened in December 2020 with the help of a $300,000 federal grant that the City of Albuquerque Economic Development Department (EDD) received from the U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). Since then, NM MBDA has provided nearly 300 clients with services including sourcing bid opportunities, assisting with certification and registration, packaging financing and equity offers, accessing capital financing, strategic planning consulting, international trade assistance, and training.
