To promote entrepreneurship among locals, the Meghalaya government has earmarked a hefty sum of Rs 300 crore to support over 20,000 entrepreneurs from various sectors over the next three to four years.
Speaking to reporters at the PRIME MegaPreneur Expo 2024, Premier Conrad K. Sangma expressed his government's commitment to promoting entrepreneurship. He highlighted initiatives like the CM ELEVATE program, which aims to empower a significant number of entrepreneurs, which is a landmark initiative for the state.
Additionally, Sanma announced the allocation of approximately Rs 22.67 billion to support 71 entrepreneurs from various sectors, demonstrating the government's substantial support for budding ventures.
Chief Minister Sangma reflected on the importance of entrepreneurship, highlighting its role as a key driver of economic development both regionally and nationally. He emphasized the government's strategic focus on fostering entrepreneurship as a key driver of economic growth and job creation in the state. Initiatives like CM ELEVATE provide substantial support, including 75% grants and comprehensive support to accelerate business growth.
The three-day PRIME MegaPreneur Expo 2024, held at the SRGT Polo Ground, concluded on Friday with a celebration of Meghalaya's entrepreneurial spirit. The event included an awards ceremony to recognize top performers and celebrate the achievements of the ShillongPRIME team.
Additionally, the expo provided a platform for insightful discussions and presentations by industry experts, enriching Meghalaya's entrepreneurial spirit. Academic institutions such as St. Anthony's College, Shillong University and Shillong College shared their experiences and showcased their entrepreneurial endeavors in programs such as the Entrepreneurship Development Program (EPDP).
