Governor Mills invites Maine businesses to apply for 2023 Excellence in Business Awards
Applications are currently being accepted at the Ministry of Economic and Community Development until Friday, October 13th.

Augusta, Maine — Governor Janet Mills announced today that the Department of Economic and Community Development is accepting applications for the Annual Awards for Business Excellence (GABE). Since 1991, the award has recognized and celebrated Maine businesses with high levels of commitment to their communities and employees, and exemplary performance in manufacturing and service industries.
“Through the Governor’s Award for Business Excellence, we are honored to recognize and honor Maine businesses that lead and invest in their employees, communities, and state.” Governor Janet Mills said:. “We look forward to celebrating Maine’s outstanding businesses, entrepreneurs, and employees who are dedicated to making Maine a great place to work, live, and raise a family.”

In 2022, award-winning companies Atlantic Sea Farms, Medrhythm, Central Main Motors, and Dirigo Solar were recognized as models of economic success. This year's awards are designed to honor Maine businesses that consistently strive for excellence amidst global challenges.
The 2023 Governor's Award for Business Excellence categories are:
- innovation awardcelebrates and recognizes business excellence through entrepreneurship and innovation.
- Regional Revitalization Awardrecognizes contributions to the revitalization and growth of rural Maine.
- heritage industry awardrecognizes and celebrates business excellence in agriculture, forestry, manufacturing or marine.
- climate leadership awardwhich recognizes business leadership, innovation or excellence in reducing climate risks and developing new technologies to combat climate change.
Applications can be submitted until Friday, October 13, 2023. Details of the award ceremony will be announced by the Governor's Office at a later date.
