Police said the accident happened at Bouldercrest Road and Smithville Avenue. A total of four Cedar Grove High School students were in the car.
LaMarcus was the only one who died.
Parks was a star football player at Cedar Grove High School and was on the wrestling team.
“It's been very difficult. None of us expected something like this to happen. It's unbelievable,” Roberson said. “When I met someone one day and they were strong and healthy. I never expected something like this to happen to someone so young and strong.”
Roberson said the family is currently planning a funeral, but there are issues with the life insurance policy.
They are now forced to pay funeral home costs out of their own pocket.
“We have worked together as a family to come up with the funds. We have about half of what it would cost to give him a nice funeral and burial, but that's only the other half.” Roberson said.
Roberson hopes her godson can be buried soon because he deserves it.
“Marcus is a very kind and loving person. He was a pretty big guy, but as big as he was, just as kind and really silly. He was really kind. He was always willing to please. and was there for you,” she said.
